Giving Back

Our role within the community goes far beyond simply providing employment to those living in the area. We have ties with Llantarnam Community Primary School, and are also a proud sponsor of Croesyceiliog AFC under 13’s football team.

We regularly support local community projects including a recent bone marrow registration drive, which we held at our offices, to help find a bone marrow match for a poorly little boy from our area.

We also aim to support staff who go the extra mile for a good cause, by helping to organise sponsorship money, spreading the word of their good deed or giving them well deserved recognition on our social media channels.

Giving back to our community is hugely important to us and we encourage our staff to get involved and dig deep to help raise money, and donate their time, for local charities.

A discussion was held at one of our Your Voice employee forum meetings about the various charities that needed support in our local area.

A study held in 2016 showed that almost a quarter of people in Wales are struggling to make ends meet, and the South Wales valleys are commonly depicted as one the most deprived areas in the UK. Whilst many struggle to find work, others work full time but on a low income.

We decided that an organisation of our size, that does so much for charity, could really make a difference to the lives of those living in our local area. Whilst we get involved in the occasional bake sale and support national awareness days, we focus the majority of our time and resources on helping our neighbours.

The local food bank, that needs donations to help a family struggling to afford food at the end of the month. The family support service that is helping a mother find funds needed to by new school uniforms for her children. The homeless shelter, that takes in those without a place to stay for the night.

There are so many amazing charities and organisations that aim help people living in our area and we want to do what we can to support them. If you know of an organisation that deserves our support, let us know on our Get Involved page.
