Last week a selection of We Plan Group employees dressed up to the nines as they headed off for an evening of glitz and glamour at the Welsh Contact Centre Awards 2019. We Plan Group had been nominated for two awards; Business Improvement Strategy and Support Person of the Year.
Unfortunately we lost out on Business Improvement Strategy award (but we’re still super grateful for the nomination). However, our Employee Engagement Officer, Danielle Nash, bagged herself Support Person of the Year and we couldn’t be happier for her!
We caught up with Danielle to find out more about her role and how it felt to win Support Person of the Year at the Welsh Contact Centre Awards!
Firstly, congratulations on winning the award, you must be so proud! Tell us a little more about the work you do which led to you being nominated?:
The aim of my role is to develop and improve employee engagement through promoting employee benefits, providing support and helping to find solutions to employee issues, as well as supporting the health and wellbeing of our staff.
I think it can be really helpful for those employees who are struggling to know they can come to me if they need to. The motivation for me comes from knowing that I am supporting people when they are struggling, and then seeing the results of what I do. The feedback I get from people is amazing and makes mine the most rewarding and fulfilling role.
Can you tell us a little more about the category you were nominated in and how it felt to be put forward?:
The Support Person of the Year award is for non-managers who have been working in any contact centre support function, for example HR, Training or IT. The judges assessed us on our enthusiasm, willingness, adaptability, determination and vocational competence.
I was delighted to have been nominated for this award, but I was obviously really nervous. I had to attend an interview in Cardiff to answer further questions and I was up against 8 other people from across South Wales.
I was just really pleased that the support I’ve given to the team, new entries and girls on maternity had been appreciated.
The pictures from the night looked amazing! Tell us more about the event and how it felt to win:
To be totally honest I felt honoured to have even been shortlisted and I really didn’t hold out much hope for winning the award - if I had I might have opted for a fancier dress! But honestly I was so shocked!
There was a great group of us who went along, people from various departments across the business. I love the comedian, Katherine Ryan, who was the event host so it was fantastic to get to meet her as well.
We would like to wish Danielle congratulations on behalf of everyone in the Group. The work she carries out is vitally important and we are thrilled that she has been recognised for her efforts!
